THE SWING

During the class, the teacher told us that this is a very short project, and I realized that there is not a lot of time to do it. During this class, I made two samples, one is a hat. In fact, this hat was inspired by Rococo people who like to drink tea. Thus, I found some Rococo-style coffee cups on the Internet with photos of some petals. I feel that the shape of this hat is a bit like a coffee cup, but then I think it can be combined with the style of the cake, which will make this sample look more harmonious. I weaved this hat by myself, the colour is inspired by the colour of the cake, because many cakes are not only one colour, besides, why would I want to add small flowers on it caused the coffee cup in the picture has petals in it. I feel like It looks great on top to help her decorate like a cake. I want to make another sample. The blue ribbon in the middle is inspired by the painting of swinging in the Rococo period because I think the material of Rococo clothing is like this ribbon. When you get this kind of yarn from different angles, there will be different sheens, and the reason I chose to use such a bright blue ribbon here is that I want to let everyone know that I am not just making cakes, but I also refer to many different histories.

I actually feel that I spend a lot of time on samples because I want to study in ba textile design. Therefore, I think I can focus on this part. I also made two samples in this class. I like this sample very much, because it doesn’t look like weaving, but in fact, its backside is also made with weaving. The inspiration for the yellow part below is that there is a cheesecake because it was mixed with a lot of different colours of cream, pink, green and goose yellow. Thus, I decided to use three wool felts to make this part. However, I didn’t know how to make them together with wool felt. I suddenly remembered that I was watching a video one day. I saw someone use them together in that way, so I decided to try it out. I wet the wool felt and stick it on the yellow one and then put them into plastic to squeeze the air out. When the air squeeze out, they were mostly stuck together. However, there were still some places that didn’t stick, and then I poked them with a needle to stick them together. The sample was mainly inspired by my favourite cake and I used this way to make the sample.
